Prepared by: Market Research Corporation, MMM Group, Ltd., Meloshe & Associates Ltd., and Williamson Consulting Inc.

Prepared for: The National Capital Commission, the City of Ottawa and the City of Gatineau

Date:  November 30, 2009

Summary:  The National Capital Commission, the City of Ottawa and the City of Gatineau wish to establish a self serve bike service (SSBS) as part of a regional integrated sustainable transportation strategy. The program is intended to provide service to residents, workers and visitors of the NCR as an environmentally friendly mode of transportation. The study’s objectives include the identification of required bike infrastructure for such a program, costs and revenue projections and the demand for such an initiative. It is intended that the station locations in Phase I will be concentrated in the downtown areas of Ottawa and Gatineau due to traffic, destinations and attractions. The NCR bike share service is intended to be launched in the Spring 2010, following a pilot project undertaken in downtown Ottawa and Gatineau in Summer 2009.
